Evidenced Based Practice: An Introduction


Evidenced Based Practice is the integration of

  1. clinical expertise/expert opinion,
  2. external scientific evidence
  3. client/patient/caregiver perspectives

In order to provide high-quality services reflecting the interests, values, needs, and choices of
the individuals we serve. (ASHA, 2020).

This means that we need to ensure our clinical work is based on well-founded scientific principles and research, while using our clinical judgement to ensure our clients are central to the decision making process.

In this part of A Pinch of SaLT we recommend and summarise Journal articles to contribute to the clinical decision making and critical appraisal of research .
